At the Annual Uplift film festival, we take pride in serving students and the community with quality services tailored to the experience of enjoying a variety of film festivities. Whether it's watching films, networking with artists, or participating in workshop events, we are here for all to share the frame.
Who
we are
UpLift is an international film festival, organised by students at the Department of Literature, Film and Theatre Studies (LiFTS) at the University of Essex. The festival screens film work and hosts additional activities that focus on particular themes or filmmaking modes. In its fourth edition, the festival explores comfort as its central theme. This year, UpLift aims to:
• uplift spirits and forge connections before everyone departs for the winter break, leaving audiences with a sense of home at Essex.
• offer a warm communal space to celebrate universal themes of comfort and nostalgia.
• foster the seasonal atmosphere through cinema, drawing on the festive and heartfelt holiday spirit
During the festival, apart from screenings, there will be additional sessions (e.g. talks, workshops, etc.) available to audiences and filmmakers. A full programme of these will be announced closer to the date of the festival.
